Hi
had the same problem for years, notes 5, 6.5 and 8.0 with WSUS 2
we have MS office and install the outlook messaging component bits - I think they are required for the "send to email recipient" to work from the MS word excel etc
From experience it always been the MS outlook updates that causes the IE program settings to flip back to MS outlook
So we dont allow MS outlook updates to install from WSUS. We only apply the outlook updates when a machine comes back in for servicing
Not a great solution but it saves us a lot of grief
Haven't tested it but I think you'll run into the same problem regardless of the email client you use, eg even if you used thunderbird the ms outlook update would reset the IE programs to outlook
If you are running active directory you could maybe reset the IE programs back to lotus notes via a windows group policy, haven't tried it myself
regards
K
